One day, my friend posed a very interesting question: on a scale from 1 to 10, how happy was I at work? The question interested me because I never thought to quantify work happiness. What sparked my curiosity even further, was learning that she was an 8 out of 10—surely, a rating so high wasn’t very common. So I proceeded to ask other people, friends who work in various different fields, and was surprised at their answers: 8, 8.5, 9, 10 and even an 11 out of 10.
How could that be? In my role at the time, I was only a 4 out of 10! I don’t think I had ever ranked higher than a 7.25.
The idea of actually being passionate about everyday work was not something I had experienced yet. So it led me to want to find out more about the people who gain real fulfillment and enjoyment through the work they do. These people, who have generously shared their stories with me, are an inspiration. I hope this blog serves as a source for inspiration for you, too.
Note: I’m currently pursuing my passion of 1) connecting with interesting and inspirational people and 2) working on my first novel 🙂
